FYP meeting 4: 26/05/12

Location: SIM

Members attended: Santy, Sebastian, Octa, Wilson, Jennisa

  • Met up with supervisor for the second time.
  • Showed and discuss about what we have done thus far. The game development plan on android.
  • Supervisor suggests changing to PC platform as developing to mobile platform poses too much risk.
  • Game flow concepts have to be revised as the emphasis is now on the “generator” word. Our previous game plan of doing just a puzzle generator is no longer feasible.
  • Further discussion among us to come up with concept based on what the supervisor suggests.
  • Agreed to work on JAVA platform as most of us have the IDE installed, and hopefully it will be easier to come up with the GUI implementation as compared to other languages.
  • Outstanding task that need to be done are:

o Generating buttons/controls real-time. Allow the user to place control nodes on the GUI using an editor or in game itself.

o Integration of existing API and codes found on different applications. Combining both the mosaic and jigsaw application to execute one after the other.

o Research on current competitors in the market, and how our product differs from them. Revised existing documents to fit current plan.

o Find a means to generate output files that can be executed independently as a stand-alone application or to be used in conjunction with our editor. This output is to be generated from our editor/application.

  • - Everyone read through GDD and TDD, further clarify any doubts regarding the flow and game concept. Particularly on how we are going to achieve our algorithm with codes.
  • - Shared Photomosaic and Jigsaw coding procedures based on research and improvisation.
  • - To start on ADD over the next few days.
  • - Decided to split the coding into 2 parts, mosaic and jigsaw. Mosaic will start into the coding phase first.
  • - Website to be updated with the game synopsis and feature.
  • - More work (mosaic and jigsaw coding) will start after 23rd May.

  • Had our first meeting with supervisor

  • Stating what we had initially agreed on. To do astandalone PC application
  • Understand that the project will involve photomosaicalgorithms, coupled together with jigsaw implementation
  • Changed the concept to be a mobile app/gameinstead. Preferably android due to the availability of development tools, andthe poor influx of photomosaic android apps in the current market
  • Agreed to research on android processes and gettinguse to android SDK, start working on how android phone can display images
  • Comes up with possible games application/conceptto be discussed in our next meeting
